Pigman Album Review 10/1/2022

Netherheaven by Revocation

Let me begin by thanking all those readers that enjoy & support my album reviews for Horas Rockeras. Now regarding this new LP by Revocation, It’s by far the darkest LP this band has released so far. It is a more traditional approach to the modern death metal sound that Revocation has been known for, in comparison to their last LP in 2018 called "Outer Ones", which took your imagination to reaches beyond space & time with its tales of cosmic horrors. In contrast to 2022's "Netherheaven" which manages to take you below the depths of Hell, with a realism to burn your mind with its relentless fire.

The LP starts with the track "Diabolical Majesty" which is so punishing, you feel condemned as the band’s philosophical stand against the Christian right is made obvious by their support for the Satanic temple, that questions their core beliefs and views through out the entire album.

Tracks like "Lessons in Occult Theft", "Galleries of Morbid Artistry" and "The 9th Chasm" really expose the heavy chugging and minor chords, inspiring an uneasy feeling that will haunt you.

In contrast to the fast thrash inspired tracks, "Nihilistic Violence" and "Strange and Eternal", which elevate the mood to increase your metabolism.

This new album is totally insane & demonic until you get to the closing track "Re-crucified" whose production is in complete contrast to the rest of the album’s theme. The song features none other than, George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher of Cannibal Corpse and the late Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder. It’s monstrous cut digs deep into your head with Trevors insane vocals & Corpsegrinder's gutturals break down followed by heavy riffs which result in bone crushing soul digging effects, solidifying my opinion that this album is a must hear.

Pigman’s Record of the Month For September 1st 2022

My new Blog features a review of Psycroptic’s new album “Divine Council”. This New LP is by far one of the best Death-Tech releases this year. Starting with the opening track "Rend Asunder" the similarities to the band Meshuggah with their insane groove and dissonant background leads is unmistakable.

The technical grooves & Beats are relentless on this LP, giving you an absolute need for loss of control, possibly leading to serious Head banging injures. My favorite track by far on this new LP is "Enslavement" which brings a really needed melodic factor into the mix with perfect technicality while still maintaining its continuity to the rest of the Album. Tracks like "A Fools Errand", "Ashes of Our Empire" and "Awakening" are all Heavy complementers to this album so I Don’t recommend that you skip over them! Closing out this album is "Exitus" with a Lamb Of God feel, it’s the perfect way to close out this insane new album that truly didn’t disappoint.
