The Let’s Go Music Festival Day 1

Local orange-
A band that made the most of winning an online battle of the bands for the chance to perform at the Main stage this year. They’re a fun young Local Maryland band with T-shirt wearing supporters in the audience, featuring a lively singer and a noticeable gifted young bass player. The band featured a nice mix of pop and funk songs to get the Main stage started.
Filter-
I loved the fact that this year’s festival chose to invite such an edgier Rock band to perform this year. Filter was so cool on stage that the singer chose to wear a heavy jacket on one of the hottest days of the year in Maryland. The veteran band didn’t seem to have any original members other than their founder Richard Patrick, who gave a nice shout out to friend Trent Reznor of NIN for his earlier influence and support. Their performance included many of their classic songs, including their new one “Face Down” which Richard performed with vocal strength and stage presence, regardless of the stage heat & humidity, seemingly staying & focused & motivated which was much enjoyed & appreciated by the afternoon audience.

Collective soul

5 Minutes into their opening song, I was quickly reminded of how Lead singer Ed Roland was & still is the perfect fit for this 90s alternative Rock band. At times lively, flamboyant, colorful, & Jagger like in his expressions as he carried out the lead vocal duties with his till familiar voice. The band performed much of their most popular 90s hits, even involving some members of the audience (young & matured) to help them sing an REM cover, “The One I Love” which was accompanied on stage by the singer of Live. Another sweet moment included Ed’s daughter joining him on stage to greet the audience. So my conclusion is that his band is still beloved and appreciated by the fans who continue to support their music.
Live

Live was mystical, dreamy & ready to remind the audience of why they were one of the 90’s most successful Alternative Rock bands. The perfect closure to a great opening day, who used their platform to cover their biggest hits of the 90s while adding some newer songs to their reportar. Lead singer, Ed Kowalczyk keeps reminding me of why excellent singers and frontman still matter with his continuos strong vocal range & commanding stage presence. I was glad to see them perform well & of course Live.
